Ulysses - The Ultimate Writing App App Reviews

If you used the Mac version of Ulysses, youll feel right at home with the iPad version. iCloud sync enables sharing of your whole writing library between Mac and iPad. Markdown implementation is well thought out. A very solid entry on iOS, Ulysses is clearly already among the very best writing apps available on the App Store. I highly recommend it for anyone serious about writing on iPad.

Lacks an option to open the app with the last edited document rather than the inbox. Extremely powerful app.

I was skeptical, having tried a lot of writing apps on the iPad. This one is, by far, the best and most complete. Its just like Ulysses on the Mac, short just a few secondary resources. And it syncs perfectly. I have a large library and it synced in a matter of seconds. Also, every modification is updated almost immediately. Great app for plain text writing. And it will surely evolve, like Ulysses for mac. Its a bit pricey, but for anyone who writes a lot its worth it.

I love the combination of Ulysses on my Mac and my iPad. Ive gone all-in on the app and basically store all of my current writing documents, notes, drafts and finished docs in there, which is what makes the app shine the most. Having your complete library is a really valuable thing that sets Ulysses apart from other apps, and you stop thinking about your text as separate documents and rather just as pages, chapters, scenes, etc. Its all just there, and that takes away much of the distraction around the writing process.

I really like Ulysses on Mac and iPad and now I have all the writings always with me on the iPhone. Happy camper over here:)

Finally! I now have a comprehensive, beautiful, and powerful writing environment so I can work anywhere I go. Combined with the Mac app, I now have no excuse for procrastinating on the next chapter (well, except for the dust under the refrigerator, the piles of old clothing needing to be sorted, and isn’t it about time for another cup of coffee…)

Ive been waiting for this since the Mac version came out. Ulysses is a wonderful program, thoughtfully designed, and having an iPad version only makes it easier for me to use both versions more often thanks to the (so far) reliable iCloud syncing. Ulysses is a pleasure to write in, and its great to finally have excellent Markdown export functions in an iPad app. Worth every penny.

Between minimalist editor and fancy pants doc presentation there had to be a sweetspot. Now we know where it is.

The soulmen are incredibly dedicated to their craft and their vision. For many years now, they have relentlessly and diligently recreated Ulysses which on the Mac is totally unique and powerful. This iteration of Ulysses for iPad is an achievement. These guys are coding from the future. Thanks!!

I use both the iPad and Mac clients, and I love them as a writing environment. However, DropBox support is currently missing and this is the only reason why I cannot give this app five stars. Please add DropBox support!

other than that its proving to be an interesting app for writing and sorting. The only glitch Ive come across so far is that it tends to lose styles listed over 5 downloaded or so. Im looking forward to seeing the rest of the original mac app implented into this iPad app. Especially the chance to fold sheets and whatnot in a folder type setting, where I can tap an arrow to toggle show this set or hide that set.
